Current Instructor Spotlight
Learn from local expert instructors who bring a wealth of experience and industry connections to the classroom.
Mr. Jim Charapich
Professor Charapich has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management and has spent his career building projects and providing services to the building industry. Along with being an adjunct instructor, Professor Charapich is the president and CEO of Culpeper Chamber of Commerce, the Foreign Trade Zone #185, and the CEO of Career Partners, Inc. (E-Squared).
Mr. Saxon Gray
Saxon Gray is a full-time welding instructor with over 20 years of welding experience. He received a bachelor's degree in nursing from South University, just before making a career switch to the skilled trades industry. After learning the skills needed to be a successful welder, Mr. Saxon started his own welding company, S&K Welding, which he recently turned over to his son in order to teach at Germanna full time. Mr. Gray teaches students the basics of welding and educates them on the safety precautions and principles.
Mr. Joseph Lunceford
Joseph Lunceford has been an instructor for Germanna’s Workforce Services for ten years, teaching CompTIA I.T. Fundamentals and A+ Certification Preparation. He also has 10 years of experience as a network administrator for Culpeper County Public Schools and provides professional technical development for CCPS staff. He holds CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications, as well as Linux Essentials, Cisco Certified Technician, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
Ms. Heather McKendree
Heather McKendree, a dedicated professional and mother of three, has always been drawn to hands-on work. Her father, a skilled welder, ignited her interest in construction from an early age. She eagerly assisted him with various projects, whether it was crafting, general construction, or working on cars.
Alongside her daughter, Ms. McKendree completed the Core Craft and Welding classes at Germanna, both earning Academic Excellence awards upon graduation. Inspired by her newfound skills, Heather founded her own business, WeldHer Welding & Creations.
Today, as a welding instructor at Germanna, Ms. McKendree uses her position as a way to share her love for the craft and empower others.
Mr. Joseph Mummert
Joseph Mummert embarked on his journey in the trades 25 years ago, working alongside his father during high school summers. After graduating, he entered the plumbing trade and steadily climbed the ranks, eventually establishing his own company, Junior's Plumbing Services, in 2012. In 2023, Mr. Mummert transitioned to Germanna, where he now teaches skilled trades, helping others discover their passions. With a Virginia Master License in Plumbing and Gas Fitting, he is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in psychology at Regent University and Germanna.
