Germanna's Cybersecurity Club participates each year in VMI's Cyber Fusion "Capture the Flag" event in Lexington, Virginia. Germanna is designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Education, co-sponsored by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. Only CAE's in Virginia are invited to this competition.
Capture the Flag (CTF) events in computer security are exercises where participants attempt to find text strings, called "flags", which are secretly hidden in purposefully-vulnerable programs, files or websites.
